A CELTA course that is available in Rome is a full-time 4-week intensive course with classes held 5 times a week. The school is situated in the center of the city near the Coliseum and the main railway station. There is a Self Study Center available for the participants where they can use a well-resourced library of reference materials. The trainees are also allotted a room with photocopying facilities and place to meet with other program members.

Course Organization

1. The classes are held by experienced trainers with the appropriate qualifications and practice.
2. The trainers’ responsibilities include providing feedback, guidance and support for both written assignments and supervised practical classes held by the trainees.
3. The course comprises no less than 120 hours of in-class work, including 6 hours of observation of an experienced ESL/EFL teacher and 6 hours of assessed practice.
4. The classes are held in appropriately equipped classes with a variety of teaching material and aids available.
5. The trainees should be fully informed on their progress, performance and future employment/studying possibilities.

The Syllabus includes:

• techniques for speaking, listening, writing and reading skills development;
• techniques for presentation and practice of the new material;
• lesson planning peculiarities;
• management of the class;
• language forms and meanings, and language styles variations.

Accommodation

For those people who are not residents of Rome there is a choice of separate apartments or flats shared with university students or other program members. Accommodation is ensured for the period of 4 weeks during which the course continues. The participants are required to pay a deposit for the residence in advance, and the rest on arriving at the place of living.
