CELTA center in Halifax

The center that offers CELTA courses in Halifax is directed by the English Canada World Organization (EC). The world wide recognized CELTA program has been offering its courses since 1985. Today the participants from all parts of the world are welcome to attend the course.

To be eligible to apply for the program, the candidates should:
- Be 20 or older (some 18-20 year old participants may be accepted at Center’s discretion);
- Possess a standard of education allowing them to enter an institution of higher education in their home country;
- Have a native speaker level of English;
- Show a potential to the development of good teaching skills; 
- Successfully complete both written assignment and practical teaching classes.

CELTA at LSC Toronto

The CELTA course at LSC Toronto is a full-time intensive 4-week course with 120 hours of involvement in the class activities as well as extra time needed for class preparation.

Course Assessment and Format
The course is assessed continuously during the studying process. The participants are given credit for class participation, conducting their own practical classes, lesson planning and completing of the written assignments. There is no final exam.

The course includes:
• 3 hours per day of workshops and lectures on language teaching;
• 2 hours per day of teaching practice;
• analysis and feedback on teaching practice;
• 6 hours per course of experienced teacher’s work observation.

Entry requirements comprise a minimum age of 20 year, university entrance qualification, a general understanding of the structure and function of the English language and a native-speaker like command of English.
