Teaching Opportunities

Poland paints perhaps the most enigmatic picture for an expatriate who wants to settle in Eastern Europe. More and more teachers widen their stay in Poland because of the hospitality of Poles. Poland proposes English teachers the opportunity to work in both private and public schools. Public school teachers are low paid and have a serious workload. Private language schools present sensible forms and enough pay to have a good standard of living. Furthermore they are ready to hire foreign English teachers. Language schools in Poland vary in students ranging from 6 to 60 years old.

It is extremely widespread for teachers to have private students at home, in spite of the fact that a lot of schools forbid this. English teachers can be expecting to earn significantly more than the average Pole, and can have an incredibly comfortable lifestyle. The regular salary is R1200 if teaching English in state schools and between R2000 and R4800 per month in private schools. Expect to teach up to 24 hours per week. The tax rate is 20%.

Getting There
When teaching English in Poland the government requires that you have a degree, a TEFL certificate of any kind and a promissory permit from an employer.

A number of employers will ask for the Cambridge or Trinity certificates but there are many who will not. Work permits have to be useful for outside of Poland, so if you do go there on a tourist visa, you will have to leave the country to get a work visa. Salary packages can comprise airfares and accommodation.

Getting Started
The cost of living is pretty cheap in Poland by European standards. A lot of schteaching_opportunitiesools will offer shared accommodation or a housing payment. They will assist English teachers in finding somewhere to live and might even pay for hostel fees. Living with a family in exchange for English lessons is well-liked as well.

Getting Around
The main cities have decent public transport systems. Owning a private vehicle on a teacher’s salary is not practical.
