| Working as a Teacher of English | 3. While Working - Be dynamic and creative. Students usually learn much better when the teacher strives to make the lessons as interactive as possible.
- De firm but flexible. Let them know that you want them to learn but allow for tiredness from work, university, running up and down on the buses, and so on.
- Show personal interest. The students react so much better when you take a few moments to ask them about their families and their work. Keep in mind that this is a Latin community and families are extremely significant in their lives.
 - Be patient. Like everyone, Costa Rican students learn at dissimilar paces.
- Do not allow them to laugh at one another. They hate making mistakes in public. So if anybody laughs at them even one time they will never practice again for fear of disgrace.
- Do not allow them to talk to you in Spanish and give details to them in English. Have them work at it and get it out in some way. That will give them the impulsion they need to try once more later on.
