Teachers Needed
teachers_neededBy nature, Angola is one of the richest countries in the world, with oil, diamonds, iron ore, rich agricultural soil and large fishing reserves in the ocean. The country has the potential of providing a good living standard for its people. Nevertheless Angola is supposed to be one of the poorest countries on the African continent. The life expectancy in Angola is only 46 years, and up to 75% of the adult population can not read and write. That is why there is a great need for development instructors in Angola.

Since Angola has gained independence from Portugal in 1975 the people have been suffering from the civil war till 1992. This situation has led to 2 million people being displaces and thousands of orphans and displaced children. Since early 2002, Angola has stabilized and seen peace.

Angola is in enormous need of teachers that have good education and determination for what it takes to educate the children and youth growing up in a postwar society. Not just English teachers are in demand in this country but also teachers of science, pedagogic and other subjects.

If you are going to visit Angola to teach English there, you should be ready to do more then just teaching. There is a great necessity to take care of and educate numerous children who fall outside of the ordinary school system. At the street kids schools you will have to supervise a group of children. Your role will be both as a teacher in theoretical skills as English, but also in vocational skills as farming, baking, building and many other. In addition you will be a social worker; teaching the children how to work together, and how to take appropriate care of themselves and others.

While teaching English in Angola you are required to be mature by nature, dedicated, work unsupervised, demonstrate initiative and be prepared to assist wherever is needed.
